BONGANI MAGATYANA

Bongani Magatyana, based in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, is a versatile professional in the music and theatrical field. Born into a musical family, he learned music notation from his father and is the original composer of the renowned folklore song Nongqawuse. Since 2013, he has collaborated with Village Harmony, an international music organization, teaching and co-leading camps and workshops globally. Magatyana currently composes for and conducts choirs in South Africa, Europe, and the USA, with his works featured in major choral competitions. He recently founded the Khayelitsha Children’s Choir under his organization, Bongani’s Educational Music NPO.
